The Apostle Paul’s relationship with the Philippians was very intimate. “For it is only right for me to feel this way about you all, because I have you in my heart, since both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers of grace with me” (Php 1:7). Paul confesses that he experienced such closeness with the Philippians that they are in his heart. In other words, as blood continually flows through his body, as thoughts of them continually filled his prayers. In addition Paul saw them as companions of God’ grace in the ministry of the Gospel whether in or out of prison.
