Philippians Devotional 14

The Apostle Paul after saying, “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain”, muses over his freedom of choice. “But if I am to live on in the flesh [body], this will mean fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which to choose” (Php 1:22). Paul suffered much for the sake of the Gospel and must have become physically and emotional weary as he wrote to his beloved friends. However, he knew that Jesus was not done with him yet. “But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; yet to remain on in the flesh [body] is more necessary for your sake” (Php 1:23-24). You may want to give up also, but your life is not your own — you belong to Jesus.
