James Devotional 29

You are wealthier than most of the peoples of the world and it is very easy to trust in your riches than in Jesus. “Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries which are coming upon you. Your riches have rotted and your garments have become moth-eaten. Your gold and your silver have rusted; and their rust will be a witness against you and will consume your flesh like fire. It is in the last days that you have stored up your treasure”! (Jas 5:1-3). The more wealth that you have beyond your daily needs the more you worry on how to protect it from loss. Consequently, your treasure may easily become your god or idol rather than Jesus.
