Abraham is your example of active faith. “Even so Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness. Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham. The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, ‘All the nations will be blessed in you.’ So then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer” (Gal 3:6-9). Abraham was asked by God to sacrifice his only son whom God had promised to be his heir [Gen 22:1-19] and by faith, “He considered that God is able to raise people even from the dead, from which he also received him back as a type” (Heb 11:19).
