The Apostle Paul had to address Peter’s doublemindedness for the sake of the freedom that Christians have in Christ. “But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in the presence of all, ‘If you, being a Jew, live like the Gentiles and not like the Jews, how is it that you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews’” (Gal 2:14-15a)? You are often doubleminded when you, like Peter, claim to be Spirit led, but yield to the desires of your old nature, “But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves” (Jas 1:22).
