Christ came so that He “might reconcile them both [Jew and Gentile] in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity. And He came and preached peace to you who were far away, and peace to those who were near” (Eph 2:16-17). Jesus proclaimed His reconciling work world-wide so that you would be able to respond to His invitation to be united with Him in salvation. He did this because “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance” (2 Pet 3:9).
