You are prideful and often want to be in control of your life now and in the future. Your salvation was not of your making. “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast” (Eph 2:8-9). This salvation cannot be obtained by any scheme or effort on your part. It is, from start to finish, all by God’s grace in, through and with Jesus Christ. You are not even able to live the Christian life without Jesus being your functional and relational life source. “For we [you] are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we [you] would walk in them” (Eph 2:10).
