The Apostle Paul, after declaring Christ’s victory over the Devil and his devices, concludes, “Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day—things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ” (Col 2:16-17). Because you belong to Christ you need not heed those who try to bring you into bondage regarding certain food requirements, religious observances and Sabbath days of worship. These are mere fleshly substitutes that try to subvert the true worship of the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, choose Jesus and not a shadow.
