The Apostle Paul regarded your children as part of Christ’ body, with responsibility, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise, so that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth” (Eph 6:1-3) In both the Old and New Testament children were to be respectful of their parents. The Gospel lifted the burden of the Law off of the believers back which may have caused parents to allow their children to be uncontrolled and disrespectful. The Scriptures teach that the obedience and good conduct of the children results in the expectation of a long godly life (1 Tim 3:4-5).
