As a Christian you need to be honest in your communication with those who question you. “But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath; but your yes is to be yes, and your no, no, so that you may not fall under judgment” (Jas 5:12). Jesus promises to give you His words to speak when under trial by a hostile court, “But when they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say. For it is not you who speak, but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you” (Mat 10:19-20). In both of these situations you are to trust Jesus for what to say and not depend on your own understanding.
